HAUS MIX 002 – Horatio

Horatio is Haus family. A former fashion editor who now writes on his music blog Wax Lyrical.

In between penning ‘disgustingly insightful opinion pieces’ he managed to mix the second in our series of mixtapes. No stranger to hype he clues down the bole with a range of house, techno, and a bit of garage-2-step. Lesser know artists like The Martin Brothers jack their booty into heady Simian Mobile Disco’s ’1000 year egg’ which we’re loving.

We asked him a few quick questions about the mix:

How did you make this mix?

I made the mix just on my decks and recorded it on Audacity. It’s all done live so no scope for mistakes.

Any particular inspiration or concept behind the selection of the tracks?
I wanted a mix of tracks I’d still enjoy in a year’s time so I tried not to include brand new music I hadn’t had a chance to really get to know. I tried to progress a mix a little – each song is meant to take the one before and move it forward. Mostly inspired by rich tea and HP sauce though. Not together.

What releases are you looking forward to?
I was looking forward to the It’s Time For The Perculator remixes for ages so glad they’re out. Girl Unit’s new ep WUT sounds as brilliant as always. Azari and III are making some waves as well with Indigo.
