Great Expectations: LFW 2010

Looking forward to London Fashion Week. In just under a month the madness will
begin; schedules, shows, passes, photographers, models and front rows will be all the
talk in London between the 17th and 22nd September 2010. The fashion pack will be dressed in the latest fall trends, and if they’re really ahead, in the spring trends- fresh off the catwalks. For those unfamiliar with fashion seasons, the September shows will forecast the Spring/Summer 2011 trends. Now, what to look forward to.

I have great expectations of what S/S 11 will bring, I’m hoping for a continuation of
the seventies vibe, which was subtly scattered about the A/W 10 shows- think ruffles,
headbands, round sunglasses, tailored high waisted trousers and um, polo necks.
Along with this, I am also predicting a continuation of the minimalism trend that is
huge for autumn/winter 2010, which became such a huge hit after the Celine show.
The cuts and shapes as well as the colours fall under ‘minimalism’, and I love all the
camels, beiges (oh yes) and rich greys paired with classic blacks and whites. Pheobe
Philo can do no wrong there at the moment, and I think that whatever she does this
season will go down a storm and be the next big thing (or big small thing… you never
know). Having said this, I can see prints making a subtler comeback for spring/summer.
Minimalism mixed with colour, and almost invisible prints that are only visible close
up.

Along with this, I hope to see the ‘all-woman’ trend maintained, with cinched in
waists and full skirts. Maybe a new, sexier, younger and more wearable version of
this is on the cards. What I look forward to the most however, is just being there. Within the hustle and bustle of it all, seeing everything as it happens and being in my, fashion, world.
